The Southern Coast of Iceland
January 4-11, 2019
When one of my best friends in the world called me last fall to say that she found roundtrip flights to Iceland for only $250, I didn’t even wait for her to ask if I wanted to go. I booked my flights right then and there, and I honestly had no idea what I was getting myself into. I’ve never even had any sort of desire to visit Iceland. From what I had heard, it was cold (that’s a no for me), dark (I prefer sunshine), and had limited food options besides strange arctic seafood (I’m out). But hey, I’ll go anywhere once, and any trip with Lydia is worth more than $250. So off we went, and it was fantastic.
Even though my preconceived notions about Iceland were not the most positive, I loved this adventure more than I can even say with words. When people ask me what it was like, I tell them it was like a different planet. There’s no way to describe the beautiful country of Iceland and do it justice, so you’ll just have to visit yourself.
Have you been to Iceland? What was your favorite part? How on earth do you describe it to people who haven’t been?
